About and criteria

This award recognises the outstanding activity of a provider or employer regarding widening participation with their apprenticeship offer. Organisations must demonstrate how they’ve successfully led a campaign to fully embrace apprenticeships to recruit apprentices with personal characteristics such as long-term unemployed, ethnicity, English as a second language, former offenders, special educational needs, gender or disabilities.

  1. Outline why your organisation should receive The Widening Participation Recognition Award (100 words, 0 marks)
  2. Provide a brief overview of the problem that the activity was initiated to address. (100 words, 10 marks)
  3. Explain the steps that your organisation has taken to tackle the problem (250 words, 30 marks)
  4. Detail the outcomes and impact of the activity that has been seen in relation to advancing widening participation (250 words, 30 marks)
  5. Outline how your organisation advocates widening participation beyond your organisation. (200 words, 30 marks)
